Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan conducts online meetings
As COVID-19 pandemic continues and affects the health of people, the
Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan,
Sabina Aliyeva takes necessary steps in respect of effective promotion and
protection of human rights within the period of a special quarantine regime in the
country.
Although the live reception of the applicants has been suspended temporarily,the reception of appeals through online, hotlines, e-mail, fax, post as well as
Facebook and Twitter accounts of the Office continues.
The Ombudsperson holds online meetings on a regular basis with her regional centers, gets closely acquainted with human rights situations in the regions and
takes immediate measures to solve the problems raised in the complaints.
During the period of a special quarantine regime, the Ombudsperson continues her cooperation with international organizations as well as the Ombudsmen of different countries. As such, she recently has had online meetings with her
counterparts, the Chief Ombudsman of the Republic of Turkey, Şeref Malkoç and
the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana
Moskalkova..
Also recently, the staff of the Ombudsman Institution has joined the online discussions with the representatives of the CoE on improving the national
legislation on effective combating discrimination in the country.
