THAILAND   Appointment of Chief Ombudsman of Thailand and new Ombudsman

Mr. Somsak Suwansujarit was appointed Chief Ombudsman of Thailand following the Royal Proclamation Appointment granted by His Majesty the King Mahavajiralongkorn. On the same occasion of Mr.Somsak’s appointment, Assoc.Prof. Issaree Hunsacharoonroj was also granted Appointment to be the new Ombudsman of Thailand.

Deputy Public Defender of Georgia Giorgi Burjanadze and representatives of the Public Defender’s Office met with a delegation from the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT). The rights situation of prisoners in Georgia and the ways of solving problems were discussed at the meeting.

FEDERAL OMBUDSMAN OF PAKISTAN   President of Pakistan emphasized for further enhancing the outreach of Federal Ombudsman to remote areas

President Dr Arif Alvi has called for revisiting the laws governing the institution of Wafaqi Mohtasib to provide speedy and free-of-cost justice to the people against the maladministration of Government organizations. In order to help and facilitate the Overseas Pakistanis, he asked the Federal Ombudsman to create a special cell to redress the grievances and rectify injustices done to expatriates through the maladministration of Government agencies.
