A meeting was held at the Ombudsman Office with the delegation led by Ms. An
a Jumaliye
va, the head of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination of Bulgaria, that is on a visit to our country.
Welcoming the guests, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva spoke about the developing mutual relations between the two countries, also about the recent official visit paid to Bulgaria. I
t was said that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the sides will facilitate the deepening of the relations for the provision of human rights and freedoms.
At the meeting, comprehensive information was given about the activity directions of the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan, including its newly-established structural Units.
Furthermore, the Ombudsman also gave broad information about the violations of IHL by Armenia during the Second Karabakh war, also about the investigative activities of her Office, carried out to enlighten the international community about those facts of violations. It was stressed that it was carried out 7, and later 3 fac
t-finding missions, the outcomes of which were prepared as reports and sent to relevant international organizations.
Ms. Jumaliyeva thanked the Azerbaijani Ombudsman and spoke about the developing relations between the two countries. She also shared her views on how to exchange mutual experience between the institutions and briefed her anti-discrimination activity.
It must be noted that several meetings and on-site investigations into the facts about human rights violations in Aghdam and Tartar cities are to be held within the frame of this visit.
