Member of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Hery Susanto, conveyed the important role of community involvement in achieving the target of fulfilling and developing clean and inclusive energy. According to him, optimization can be done by socializing the transformation of energy from fossil energy to electrical energy into a lifestyle in society.

“Without the involvement of CSOs and the public in formulating policies, it will be difficult to plan and implement them in the energy sector to meet the needs and interests of the public,” said Hery in the online Electrifying Lifestyle webinar in the Perspective of Public Services in the Electricity Sector, Wednesday (12/10/ 2022).

Electrifying lifestyle is a movement to invite people to apply a new lifestyle by optimizing the use of emission-free electrical equipment and overcoming the fossil energy crisis in the form of fuel in their daily lives.

“Electrifying Lifestyle is a new lifestyle by using all-electric equipment that is emission-free and environmentally friendly such as electric motors, induction cookers and others. The current fossil energy crisis in the form of fuel, if not anticipated with alternative energy, can disrupt public services that require energy to produce electricity. daily needs,” said Hery.

However, currently, vehicles and equipment for public needs that use electrical energy have not been developed massively and are relatively expensive. For this reason, Hery Susanto hopes that the government through ministries/state institutions including state-owned PT PLN needs to develop the Electrifying Lifestyle innovation to support public services, especially in the energy sector.

“In practice, the supply of electricity must meet the principle of adequacy (as needed), of good quality, and at a price that is affordable by the community,” he added.

Hery said that efforts to accelerate the transition of energy to NRE include regulatory support, increased research and innovation of electric vehicles, grand design of electric vehicle development, downstreaming in the industrial world, supply support from the generation side prepared by PLN.

Meanwhile, important aspects of electrical energy management are energy security (fulfillment of national electricity needs and its sustainability in the future), Energy Equity (energy justice, namely increasing access/ratio of electrification and with affordable electricity prices) and Environmental Sustainability (considering environmental sustainability).
