PAKISTAN   PRESIDENT DR. ARIF ALVI VISITS WAFAQI MOHTASIB’S OFFICE IN ISLAMABAD.

Islamabad, 07 February 2024: Wafaqi Mohtasib has resolved 193,028 complaints against the maladministration of government departments and provided relief worth Rs 4.898 billion to citizens. The Mohtasib processed a record 194,099 complaints during 2023, the registration of complaints witnessed a surge of 18% while the disposal of complaints increased by 22% as compared to 2022.

KOREA   THOROUGH INVESTIGATION TO BE CONDUCTED TO ENSURE FAIRNESS IN 2023 HIRING PROCESSES OF 1,386 PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS.

Joint government investigations will be carried out into hiring processes of employees newly hired over the last year by 1,386 public service-related organizations. This time, in particular, whether public organizations have passed on hiring examination expenses to the job applicants will be also investigated.

AZERBAIJAN    OMBUDSMAN SABINA ALIYEVA HELD A MEETING IN THE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY OF THE PENITENTIARY SERVICE.

The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, held a meeting with juveniles in the correctional facility of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice. During her speech, the Ombudsman emphasized the importance for juveniles to carry out a healthy lifestyle, to continue their education and acquire new knowledge, and spend their leisure time effectively, which will contribute to their formation as good citizens in society.

PAKISTAN   DELAY IN ISSUANCE OF PASSPORTS: WAFAQI MOHTASIB DIRECTS INSPECTION TEAMS TO VISIT PASSPORT OFFICES AT ISLAMABAD AND OTHER MAJOR CITIES.

Expressing his deep concern over the persistent complaints of irregularities, malpractices, inordinate delays and unsatisfactory facilities at the Passport Offices for the general public, the Wafaqi Mohtasib, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has directed immediate inspection of the Passport Offices by the Wafaqi Mohtasib’s Inspection Teams at Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar and other major cities for looking into these complaints and suggesting urgent remedial measures.

KOREA   EASY ACCESS TO FILING ADMINISTRATIVE APPEALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE THROUGH ONE CHANNEL.

Filing administrative appeals online through a single system will become available, leading to conveniently filing appeals and checking results.The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC, Chairperson Ryu Chul Whan) announced that an Integrated Administrative Appeals System will be established in 2024, ensuring more convenient utilization by gathering administrative appeals in a single system.

PHILIPPINES    OMBUDSMAN OPENS ASSISTANCE CENTERS.

In a bid to bring its frontline services closer to the public, the Office of the Ombudsman opened its satellite office in Roxas City, Capiz on 30 January 2024. Ombudsman Samuel Martires led the opening of the Ombudsman Assistance Center (OAC) in City Mall Roxas City in partnership with Double Dragon Corporation President Ferdinand Sia.

AZERBAIJAN    THE OMBUDSMAN PRESENTED ITS 2023 ANNUAL REPORT.

In accordance with Article 14 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “On the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, the report of the Ombudsperson on the protection of human rights in the country for 2023 has been prepared. No later than 2 months after the end of the current year, the Ombudsperson submits the annual report to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and presents the report to the Milli Majlis.

UZBEKISTAN    FOR FAILURE TO PAY ALIMONY, ONE CAN BE HELD CRIMINALLY LIABLE – OMBUDSMAN.

The accused P. D. who was brought to criminal responsibility for non-payment of alimony, turned to the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) with a request to mitigate the imposed punishment. It was established that by the verdict of the Bekabad District Court for criminal cases of November 2023, the applicant P.D. was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, sentenced to 1 year of imprisonment, and removed from the courtroom under arrest.

UZBEKISTAN    OMBUDSMAN HELD A REGULAR RECEPTION OF CITIZENS.

On January 31, 2024, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova held a regular reception of citizens.About 50 citizens came to the reception and left their appeals on the provision of housing, social protection, material assistance, abolition of administrative responsibility, naturalization, amnesty, labor law and court proceedings.

KYRGYZ REPUBLIC   THE SERVICE FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS OF PATIENTS IN PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITALS OF THE OMBUDSPERSON INSTITUTE HAS MOVED TO RPNB.

The service for the protection of the rights of patients in psychiatric hospitals of the Ombudsman Institute of the Kyrgyz Republic has moved to the main administrative building of the Republican Psychiatry and Narcology Center (RPNB).
