TURKEY    2019 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE OMBUDSMAN INSTITUTION OF TURKEY

The Ombudsman of Turkey shared the abridged English version of the 2019 Annual Report of the Ombudsman Institution of the Republic of Turkey on their website  https://www.ombudsman.gov.tr/kdk-pdf/2019-yillik-rapor-inglizce/mobile/index.html

The total number of complaint applications received  since the establishment of the Institution is 80.535 and during the  year 2019, 20,968 complaint applications  were received. 21170  decision were issued during the year 2019. in additional to above  107.899 people were interviewed via e-mail, telephone or face to face. 2707 complaints were resolved through amicable settlement during the year 2019. The compliance ratio of recommendation have also been  increased  20% in 2013, 65% in 2017, 70% in 2018 and 75% in 2019.

GEORGIA   Public Defender positively evaluates situation at checkpoints

Representatives of the Public Defender’s office visited the checkpoints set up for quarantine purposes in Marneuli, Rustavi and Mtskheta, where servicemen of the Defense Forces are deployed together with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to evaluate the working conditions, health care procedures and monitored the procedures carried out by the military towards citizens at the checkpoints.

PAKISTAN-SINDH    Appointment of Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan as Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh

The Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah has appointed Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan as Ombudsman Sindh for a period of four years. Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan administered Oath of Office by the Governor Sindh on 24th February, 2020 and has assumed the charge of the post on 25th February, 2020.
