It is our sad duty to inform you that Mr. Najam Saeed Honorable Ombudsman Punjab has passed away on 18th June 2020. His humbleness, honesty and will to help masses were main traits of his personality. Under his true leadership, department has achieved many milestones few of them include Digitization of complete record of each and every wing of Ombudsman Punjab, Launching of e-Filling and Office Automation System in Head Office and 36 District Regional Offices of Ombudsman Punjab, Launching of OPMIS an in-house developed Enterprise Resource Management System of Ombudsman Punjab. He will always be remembered for his contribution and services for the department.

PAKISTAN-PUNJAB    Major (Retd.) Azam Suleman Khan took oath as the Ombudsman for the Province of Punjab on 1st day of July 2020.

Major (Retd.) Azam Suleman Khan took oath as the Ombudsman for the Province of Punjab on 1st day of July 2020. He has served the Federal Government and Provincial Governments in various capacities during his career.

 

 

 

AZERBAIJAN    National Preventive Group of the Ombudsman carried out a visitChildren’s homes in the regions of Azerbaijan

The members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) carried out a visit without prior notice to Guba city Boarding School for Children deprived of Parental Care, subordinated to the Ministry of Education, upon the instruction of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva.

ARMENIA    Human Rights Defender initiates rapid proceeding on complaint about beating in psychiatric establishment

The Human Rights Defender started a discussion proceeding on his own initiative based on the statement about ill-treatment, including beating of the citizen’s son in the psychiatric establishment.

AZERBAIJAN    Upon the initiative of Ombudsperson the 19 Azerbaijani citizens, who were kept at the detention centre under the hard conditions in Russian Federation, returned to their motherland.

Since the date of globally declaring the pandemic by the World Health Organization the states take strict measures to stop the further spread of the new COVID-19 infection. The infection became a serious threat for the life of mankind. At the same time closing the borders of the countries created another serious problem for the citizens who want to return to their homelands.

AZERBAIJAN    The Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan continues Human Rights Month Long Campaign

In the frame of the May 18 and June 18 Human Rights Month-Long Campaign, which was announced by the Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan, regional centers of the Ombudsperson in coordination with relevant national stakeholders held online public awareness meetings in the regions of the country. The members of civil society were also involved in this process.

AZERBAIJAN    The protection of the rights of persons with disabilities is in the focus of the Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan

After declaration of the special quarantine regime in the country due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 infection, conduction of the visits to the places, which persons cannot leave on their own will, is continued by the Ombudsperson.

TATARSTAN    The Commissioner for human rights in the Republic of Tatarstan held a hotline on the observance of labor rights of citizens.

 During the operation of the “hot line” received more than 50 calls. Among the most problematic issues voiced by citizens are the issues of wage arrears, disagreement with the termination of employment, inspections of compliance with labor laws at enterprises and organizations of various forms of ownership.

AZERBAIJAN    STATEMENT by the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan to protest against Armenia for holding illegal “elections” in the occupied region of Azerbaijan – Nagorno-Karabakh and over the regular violation of ceasefire amid a pandemic

We are deeply concerned about the violations of the ceasefire by the Armenian armed forces, which are constantly firing on the positions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the nameless heights of the State in different directions of the front, as well as civilian objects.Disregarding the statements made by the United Nations, World Health Organization and other international organizations concerning pandemic, the Government of Armenia continues its provocations in the light of its policy of occupation and aggression creating even more critical situation in the whole region. Foremost, the violation of ceasefire by the Armenian armed forces even amid pandemic further aggravates the living conditions of civilians in the conflict zone.

International Ombudsman Institute(IOI)    Board of Directors holds first electronic meeting due to Covid-19

On 18 May 2020 the IOI Board of Directors held its annual meeting to identify and discuss projects and priorities for the upcoming membership year. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the Board held its annual meeting by electronic means for the first time and despite the challenge of a wide range of different time zones, 15 out of currently 20 Directors joined the video conference hosted by the Office of IOI President and Ireland Ombudsman Peter Tyndall.

Thirteen convicts turned for advice. They were interested in issues related to transferring to other correctional institutions, issues of granting parole, medical support.

AZERBAIJAN    The protection of the rights of vulnerable groups of the population is in the focus of the Ombudsperson of Azerbaijan

From the first days of outbreak of COVID-19 in the country the issues of ensuring human rights of all groups of population in the country has been in focus of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Taking into consideration the current conditions of a special quarantine regime declared by the Government since March 24, 2020, the Ombudsperson contacts on regular basis her regional centers to study the situation on human rights in districts, particularly, in rural areas and makes recommendations addressed to relevant state bodies.

AZERBAIJAN    Azerbaijani Ombudsperson’s recommendation has been taken into consideration by the government

The recommendation of the Ombudsperson on applying concessions in granting mortgage loans to the persons who worked as a teacher in state-owned secondary educational facilities at least for 15 years has been taken into consideration by the government. As such, recently, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev has signed a Decree On making amendments to the
“Rule of granting mortgage loans, including preferential mortgages at the expense of the Mortgage and Credit Guarantee Fund”.
