REPUBLIC OF TURKEY    Chief Ombudsman of Turkey was Re-elected to the Post.

Mr. Şeref Malkoç has been re-elected as Chief Ombudsman of Turkey by the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on 11 November 2020. Mr Malkoç, a 60-year-old prominent lawyer and former member of the Parliament, was sworn in on the 1st of December 2020 at the Parliament.

HONG KONG – CHINA    The Ombudsman announces direct investigation reports on “Effectiveness of Joint Office in Handling Water Seepage Reports” and “Arrangements for Production, Distribution, Stocktaking and Use of CSI Masks”

The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, held a press conference this morning (17 December) to announce the results of two direct investigations, namely “Effectiveness of Joint Office for Investigation of Water Seepage Complaints in Handling Water Seepage Reports” and “Arrangements for Production, Distribution, Stocktaking and Use of CSI Masks”.

FEDERAL OMBUDSMAN OF PAKISTAN    Due to Ombudsman’s intervention widow received PM Assistant package after 05 years.

Due to intervention of the Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan, widow of deceased Post Office Clerk Sajjad Mirza received an amount of Rs. 2.2 million under PM Assistance Package.

HONG KONG-CHINA    Maintenance and Repair of Play and Fitness Equipment in Public Rental Housing Estates Managed by the Housing Department

Public rental housing (“PRH”) estates in Hong Kong accommodate a large number of residents. In planning these estates, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (“HKHA”) reserves leisure and recreational space for residents, with children’s playgrounds and fitness equipment provided. There were over 5,000 pieces of play and fitness equipment in PRH estates under HKHA as at June 2020.

On Wednesdays, October 28th 2020 at the Office of the Ombudsman, Thailand, Chief Ombudsman, General Viddhavat Rajatanun signed the Memorandum of Intent on the Establishment of the South East Asian Ombudsman Forum (SEAOF). HONG KONG-CHINA   Ombudsman probes into management and effectiveness of waste separation bins

The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, today (30 November) announced the launch of a direct investigation to examine the management of waste separation bins by the Environment Bureau and the Environmental Protection Department (EPD), and the effectiveness of the relevant programme.
