PAKISTAN Appointment of Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah as Federal Tax OmbudsmanThe Federal Government has appointed Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah as the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) for a period of four years with effect from September 21, 2021. Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah is a BS-21 officer who got premature retirement from the Pakistan Customs Service (PCS). Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah has received Sitara-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz awards. He also runs an NGO named Customs Healthcare Center, which has now been turned into a full-fledged hospital. He is known for his philanthropic work and has rendered laudable services following the 2005 earthquake. |

PUBLIC DEFENDER (OMBUDSMAN) OF GEORGIA PUBLIC DEFENDER CHECKS READINESS OF MEDICAL ESTABLISHMENT NO. 18 FOR MIKHEIL SAAKASHVILI’S ADMISSIONOn October 24, 2021, Public Defender’s representatives checked the readiness of Medical Facility No. 18 for the possible admission of the third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili. The inspection revealed that the situation in the facility, in terms of medical care, does not fully comply with the report or recommendations issued by a multifunctional group of doctors on October 23, 2021, and there are also some safety risks. |
