PAKISTAN   Speedy justice delivered free of cost at the doorsteps of people

The Federal Ombudsman Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has said that the institution remained committed to providing inexpensive and speedy justice at the doorsteps of the people. He urged the media to highlight the positive role of this forum in support of the poor people in the country. He said that Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat has disposed of 1.7 million complaints since its inception and has disposed of 106,732 complaints in the year 2021 alone. He also informed that the outreach of the Office of Wafaqi Mohtasib is being enhanced by opening more Regional Offices. He was addressing the media in his first press conference after taking over the charge as Federal Ombudsman which also marked the 39th Anniversary of the establishment of Wafaqi Mohtasib Institution.

Having detected a case of alleged passive bribery involving a former leader of the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) recently, the CCAC took investigative action in case of alleged passive bribery and money laundering involving another former leader of the DSSOPT and referred the case to the Public Prosecutions Office for follow-up.

THAILAND   Solving problems during the pandemic of COVID-19 in 2020

The complaint is about the Ministry of Finance’s “No one left behind” income compensation scheme of which cash support of 5,000 baht for 3 months are given out to workforces getting affected from the pandemic of COVID-19. An error, caused by the Artificial Intelligence (AI) system, occurs in the screening process of applicants’ occupation and results in disqualifying eligible applicants from getting the remedial cash.
