Federal Ombudsman Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi visited the Regional Office, Lahore on 19 October 2023. He received detailed briefing from the Head of the Regional Office Dr. Arshad Mehmood about the performance of this Office at the provincial metropolis.

HONG KONG   OMBUDSMAN PROBES MANAGEMENT OF RECORDS ON GOVERNMENT WEBSITES AND SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS.

The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, announced the launch of a direct investigation into the management of records on Government websites and social media accounts.

KOREA   PROMOTING COOPERATION ON ANTI-CORRUPTION BETWEEN KOREA AND VIETNAM.

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC, Chairperson Kim Hong-Il) held a meeting at the Government Complex Sejong on October 23 to discuss anti-corruption cooperation measures with the Central Committee for Internal Affairs of Vietnam (CCIA, Chairman Phan Dinh Trac).

PAKISTAN   WAFAQI MOHTASIB INSPECTION TEAM VISITS ALLAMA IQBAL OPEN UNIVERSITY (AIOU).

On receipt of large number of complaints against AIOU, the Wafaqi Mohtasib Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi deputed Wafaqi Mohtasib Inspection Team comprising of Senior Advisor Mr. Ahmad Farooq , Advisor Dr. Inam ul Haq Javed Deputy Advisor Mr. Pervez Haleem Rajpoot and Senior Investigation Officer Mr. Adnan Ahmad to visit the main campus of the Allamma Iqbal Open University (AIOU) located in Islamabad which is imparting education to 1.1 million students with 54 Regional Campuses all over Pakistan, AJ&K and Gilgit Baltistan .

On 27 October 2023, Mr. Somsak Suwansujarit, Chief Ombudsman of Thailand, received Mr. Virgilio da Silva Guterres, Ombudsman (Provedor) for Human Rights and Justice of Timor-Leste, during a courtesy visit to the Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand.

PROVINCIAL OMBUDSMAN SINDH – PAKISTAN   OMBUDSMAN SINDH MR. AJAZ ALI KHAN ATTENDED AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF OMBUDSMEN IN ROME FROM 21ST TO 22ND SEPTEMBER, 2023.

The main objective of the conference was to promote International collaboration and the exchange of best practices between Ombudsman from all over the world. It created a unique forum where Ombudsmen expressed and discussed the common challenges they faced around the world. The Provincial Ombudsman Sindh attended the Conference on the invitation of Honorable Marino Fardelli, President of the National Coordination of the Italian Ombudsman and Ombudsman of Lazio Region.

AZERBAIJAN    THE OMBUDSMAN OFFICE HOSTED A MEETING WITH THE MEMBERS OF THE COE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON THE FRAMEWORK CONVENTION FOR THE PROTECTION OF NATIONAL MINORITIES.

The Chief of Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Aydin Safikhanli, received the members of the CoE Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities (FCNM).

MACAU    HOLDING THE “UNITING FOR INTEGRITY – ‘INTEGRITY’ SPORTS COMPETITION DAY” AND CONTINUOUSLY DISSEMINATING THE MESSAGE OF INTEGRITY.

On 15thOctober, the CCAC organised the “Uniting for Integrity – ‘Integrity’ Sports Competition Day” with the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Sports Bureau of Macao. The activity, which attracted more than 300 young people to participate, allowed young people and the general public to know the functions of the CCAC and promoted them to actively participate in integrity building.

KOREA   ACRC SHARED KOREA’S MAJOR ANTI-CORRUPTION POLICIES WITH 8 COUNTRIES FROM ASIA AND AFRICA.

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) of the Republic of Korea organized a training course to share its experience in implementing anti-corruption policies with public officials from 8 countries in Asia and Africa.The ACRC Training Course for International Anti-Corruption Practitioners took place for six days from September 4th at the Anti-Corruption Training Institute of the ACRC.

The World Homeless Day is marked on October 10. Its aim is to draw attention to the needs of homeless people, as one of the most vulnerable groups in society.All human beings have the right to secure, peaceful and decent living conditions. The Public Defender of Georgia pays special attention to the supervision of the realization of this right.

PROVINCIAL OMBUDSMAN SINDH – PAKISTAN   ON INTERVENTION OF THE OMBUDSMAN SINDH, COMPLAINANT GOT NUMBER PLATE OF HIS VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC POLICE OFFICER TENDERED APOLOGY TO THE COMPLAINANT ON HIS MISBEHAVIOUR.

Mr. Arman Ali Ansari through an online complaint alleged that the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department failed to issue him the number plates of his vehicle No.BTW-915 despite payment of charges due to which he faced inconvenience and harassment by road side police officers. He alleged that one day the police officer stopped him and misbehaved and issued a challan without justification and snatched his license.

AZERBAIJAN    A TRAINING ON CHILD RIGHTS PROTECTION IN THE CONTEXT OF MIGRATION: INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS AND EXISTING PRACTICES WAS HELD.

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Migration Service, and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) organized a joint two-day training on the protection of children’s rights in the context of migration during Child Rights Month.

GEORGIA   MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE APPROVES PUBLIC DEFENDER’S PROPOSAL ON CHILDREN’S RIGHTS OF EDUCATION.

The Public Defender of Georgia studied and evaluated the framework document on professional educational programme for teachers of preschool institutions. It was revealed that no education of human rights, children’s rights or democratic citizenship is introduced in the programme.The Public Defender of Georgia applied to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with a proposal to integrate the children’s rights module into the framework document.
