MACAU DELEGATION OF CCAC AND MONITORING COMMITTEE ON DISCIPLINE OF THE CCAC PERSONNEL VISITED GREATER BAY AREA.The Commissioner Against Corruption, Chan Tsz King, led a delegation of the CCAC and invited the members of the Monitoring Committee on Discipline of the CCAC Personnel to visit four cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area) namely Guangzhou, Zhaoqing, Zhongshan and Zhuhai together, where they met with the commissions of supervision of Guangdong Province and the four cities. |

PAKISTAN THAI CHIEF OMBUDSMAN VISIT KARACHI (PAKISTAN).At the invitation of the Honourable Ombudsman Sindh, Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan, President IOI Asia Region and Chief Ombudsman Honorable Mr. Somsak Suwansujarit along with his wife Mrs. Nipa Suwansujarit visited Karachi (Pakistan) on 28 November 2023 to 01 December 2023. The Thai Ombudsman along with his wife visited the Office of the Ombudsman Sindh on 29 and 30 November, 2023. During the visit he planted a palm tree in the garden of the Office of Ombudsman Sindh and jointly inaugurated the newly constructed block. |

HONG KONG OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF DIRECT INVESTIGATION INTO FOOD AND ENVIRONMENTAL HYGIENE DEPARTMENT’S REGULATION OVER SALE OF FOOD IN HOT/COLD HOLDING AND NON-PREPACKAGED BEVERAGES BY MEANS OF VENDING MACHINE.The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, announced the completion of a direct investigation into the regulation by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (“FEHD”) over the sale of food in hot/cold holding and non-prepackaged beverages by means of vending machine, and made ten recommendations for improvement to FEHD. In recent years, more and a wider variety of vending machines selling food in hot/cold holding and non-prepackaged beverages are emerging on the market. As at the end of September 2023, there were 489 vending machines in Hong Kong with a vending machine permit (“VM Permit”) issued by FEHD under the Food Business Regulation to sell the above-mentioned types of food. |

MACAU COMMISSIONER AGAINST CORRUPTION CHAN TSZ KING PARTICIPATES IN THE 13TH GENERAL MEETING OF THE IAACA ONLINE.The Commissioner Against Corruption Chan Tsz King participated in the 13th General Meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) by videoconference this evening. At the meeting, the joining of numerous new members was endorsed and, according to the Constitution, the reappointment of the Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong, Woo Ying-ming, as the President of the IAACA for three years was also endorsed, among the others. |

PAKISTAN PROVINCIAL OMBUDSMAN KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED SECOND AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.After successfully conducting the first phase of awareness campaign under the IOI regional subsidy project, the IOI General Secretariat has extended the said project further under the IOI regional subsidy project and granted a subsidy grant worth 2,667/-€. A detailed plan of different activities was prepared for the proper utilization of this grant/amount. |

KOREA ACRC AND UNDP SHOWING CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO STRENGTHEN THE GLOBAL ANTI-CORRUPTION SOLIDARITY.The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC, Chairperson Kim Hong-Il) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will enhance their cooperation and support in disseminating Korea’s anti-corruption policies to developing countries by extending the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). On November 29 in the morning at the Government Complex Seoul, ACRC will extend the MOU with UNDP concerning the dissemination of anti-corruption policies to developing countries. |

AZERBAIJAN THE OMBUDSMAN RECEIVED THE UNICEF REPRESENTATIVE.The Commisioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, received the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Azerbaijan, Alex Haikens.At the meeting, highlighting the importance of protecting child rights, the S. Aliyeva noted that according to the amendments made to the Constitutional Law on the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, the Ombudsman was empowered to function as an independent monitoring mechanism for the implementation and promotion of the “Convention on the Rights of the Child”. |

PHILIPPINES OMBUDSMAN MARKS INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY.December 9 marks the commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD) and as part of the observance, the Office of the Ombudsman held the SIKHAY LABAN SA KORAPSYON (SiLaK) Galvanizing the Anti-Corruption Sector Thru Strategic Innovations and Gender Mainstreaming, with the participation of various stakeholders and civil society organizations.The SiLaK initiative is the Office of the Ombudsman’s collaborative advocacy platform to facilitate data-driven policy development and strategic innovations in the anti-corruption sector. It is an abbreviation for “Sikhay Laban sa Korapsyon,” a Filipino phrase which means ‘assiduity and diligence in the fight against corruption.’ |
