PAKISTAN Hundreds of cases/disputes resolved through IRD Mechanism

The Hon’ble Federal Ombudsman Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has said that hundreds of disputes/cases have been resolved in first three months through Informal Dispute Resolution (IRD) mechanism and these disputes were resolved without expense of either party and with their mutual consent through mediation by invoking Article-33 of P.O.No.1 of 1983.

HONG KONG – CHINA Ombudsman probes housing department’s arrangements for housing for senior citizens and converted one-person units

The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, (28 July) announced the launch of a direct investigation to examine the arrangements for Housing for Senior Citizens (HSC) and Converted One-Person (C1P) units by the Housing Department (HD).

PAKISTAN Radio Pakistan Pensioners gets 10% increase in pension through Ombudsman intervention

Due to the intervention of Federal Ombudsman, the Radio Pakistan pensioners have got 10% increase in their pensions.As per details, more than 50 pensioners of Radio Pakistan have filed their complaints to the Federal Ombudsman for failure to get 10% increase in their pensions,which was allowed by the Federal Government in April,2022.During hearing proceedings, the representative of Radio Pakistan informed that the funds allocated by the Finance Division are insufficient to meet the pensioners demand as per increase by the government.

On 22/06/2022, Syed Jamalud Din Shah, Provincial Ombudsman, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan presented the Annual Report, 2021 to the Hon’ble Governor (Acting), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Like the previous year 2020, this year also faced the menace of corona virus resulting in lock down, 50% attendance of staff due to which official business suffered badly.

JAPAN 60th Anniversary of the system of Administrative Counselors was held on June 30th, 2022

A ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the system of Administrative Counselors was held on June 30th, 2022 in the presence of Crown Prince and Princess Akishino. The system of Administrative Counselors, who are commissioned by the Minister of the MIC to work on a voluntary basis receiving people’s requests, opinions and complaints relating to the central government, was established in 1961 and the year 2021 marked the system’s 60th anniversary.

REPUBLIC OF KOREA ACRC to Assess “Conflict of Interest Act Compliance Efforts” of Public Institutions as Part of the 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment

As the Act on the Prevention of Conflict of Interest Related to Duties of Public Servant (the Conflict of Interest Act) took effect on May 19th, Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC, Chairperson Jeon Hyun-Heui) plans to assess target public institutions’ efforts to abide by the Conflict of Interest Act as part of its 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment of Public Institutions for stable settlement of the conflict of interest prevention system in the public sector. ACRC established and distributed to 573 public institutions the 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment Plan that finalized assessment items and indicators for 2022.

INDONESIA The Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia holds a meeting with residents regarding the construction of the PT Pertamina Pipe

Member of the Indonesian Ombudsman Yeka Hendra Fatika held an audience with representatives of the Lakbok District community regarding the PT Pertamina Pipeline Development Project in Lakbok District, Ciamis Regency, Tuesday (12/07/2022) in the Multipurpose Room of the Indonesian Ombudsman. Previously, in the pipeline construction process, approximately 35 subjects had received compensation payments, while there were approximately 40 rights holders whose compensation had not been paid. In addition, there are also 3 waqf lands that are installed with pipes.

HONG KONG – CHINA Ombudsman investigates each case impartially as independent watchdog of departments

Strengthening ESG Management of Public Institutions and International Anti-Corruption Standards Response, and Examining Agency and Providing Education for Institutions Planned. The ACRC released the integrity & ethics compliance program guidelines on June 30 to meet the international anti-corruption standards, including ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) Management of public institutions and foreign anti-corruption laws.
