Also, attends the General Assembly Meeting of the OIC Ombudsman Association (OICOA).The Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi presided over the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Asian Ombudsman Association on 18 October 2022 at Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by the heads of the respective institutions and representatives of Azerbaijan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Japan and Turkey. |

PAKISTAN Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan addresses Baku International Conference on the Role of Ombudsmen and the National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIS) at Baku City.The Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi addressed the Baku International Conference on the role of Ombudsmen and NHRIs held on 19 October 2022 at Baku city. The Conference marked the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Conference was attended by a large number of international delegations, representatives of international bodies, academia and the civil society. |

Hong Kong Ombudsman probes Government’s regulation of occupational safety and health in construction industry.The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, announced the launch of a direct investigation to examine the Government’s regulation of occupational safety and health (OSH) in the construction industry.The current legislation regulating OSH mainly includes the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance, the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, and their subsidiary regulations. On the enforcement front, the Labour Department (LD) inspects construction sites and takes regulatory actions to curb unsafe operations in the construction industry. |

KOREA ACRC, Sharing “The Operation of E-People and Best Practices for Addressing Grievance Complaints” with Indonesia.On September 21, a policy briefing was held for the Indonesian delegation, including the Vice Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform and the Head of the Center for Information Services and Complaint of the Ministry of Home Affairs -A policy briefing was organized to share experiences of running “e-People,” a government-wide channel for complaints, and best practices for addressing grievance complaints with senior officials from Indonesia. |

AZERBAIJAN AOA and OICOA Meetings were held in Baku.On the initiative of Sabina Aliyeva, the Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan, meetings of the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsmen Association (OICOA) were held in our country.The next meeting of the AOA Board of Directors was held in Baku on October 18. The event brought together ombudspersons and heads of human rights institutions from Azerbaijan, Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Iran, Pakistan, and Turkiye. TATARSTAN Participation of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan in the expanded meeting of commissioners for human rights in the Far Eastern Federal District.The commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan visited Khabarovsk region on a working trip. After an eight-hour fly from Moscow, the Commissioner immediately went to an extended meeting of human rights commissioners in the Far Eastern Federal District. The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana NikolaevnaMoskalkova.Two issues were put on the agenda of the meeting: protection of the rights of citizens during a special military operation and protection of the rights of persons in places of forced detention. |

Georgia 2021 Report on the Situation of Human Rights and Freedoms in Georgia.On October 7, 2022, at the plenary sitting of the Parliament of Georgia, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria presented 2021 Report on the Situation of Human Rights and Freedoms in Georgia. The almost 400-page report is based on up to 5,000 applications and 11,100 phone notifications received by the Office, as well as the results of hundreds of monitoring visits made by the Office to prisons, psychiatric facilities, military units and other institutions over the past year. |
