AOA SECRETARIAT RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED GUESTS
The AOA Secretariat, Islamabad received distinguished guests from three member institutions on 30 January 2024. These guests included, H.E. Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, Commissioner for Human Rights, Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Mokhammad Najih Chairman, Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia and H.E. Mr. Seref Malkoc, Chief Ombudsman, Turkiye accompanied by senior officials from their respective institutions. The esteemed members were visiting Islamabad inconnection with the 10th meeting of the Board of Directors of the OIC Ombudsman Association (OICOA).
The distinguished guests called on H.E. Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, Federal Ombudsman Pakistan/President AOA and exchanged views on matters of professional interest. The President AOA noted that such interactions among members provided a useful opportunity to strengthen cooperation among the members and promoting exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practices. He hoped that other members of the AOA family shall also find an occasion to visit the AOA Secretariat at Islamabad.
PAKISTAN FORUM OF PAKISTAN OMBUDSMAN (FPO) HOLDS ITS 29TH ANNUAL MEETING AT LAHORE.The 29th annual meeting of the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsman (FPO) was held on 3rd January, 2024 at Lahore. The meeting was hosted by the Provincial Ombudsman Punjab and attended by Federal Ombudsman, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, Federal Tax Ombudsman, Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, Provincial Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Punjab, Ms. Nabila Hakim Khan, Ombudsman of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Ch. Muhammad Naseem, Mr. Mubassher Naeem, Director General, Federal Insurance Ombudsman, Pakistan and Mr. Ishrat Mehmood, Registrar Provincial Ombudsman Sindh. |

MACAU VETTING AND APPROVAL OF SUBSIDIES NEED TO BE CONTINUOUSLY OPTIMISED.In 2023, a complainant approached the CCAC, claiming that despite a school had received the subsidies under the “Science Popularisation Funding Scheme for Schools”, it failed to disburse the subsidies to the instructors who provided training after a protracted period of waiting for the vetting, approval and endorsement of the final report by the Science and Technology Development Fund. |

PAKISTAN ISLAMABAD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DELEGATION CALLS ON WAFAQI MOHTASIB.The Wafaqi Mohtasib, Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi has said that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry plays a key role in every society and a separate portal would be established for the chamber to facilitate speedy redressal of the problems being faced by the business community. He was talking to a representative delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by Mr. Ashan Zafar Bakhtawari, which called on him in Islamabad today. |

PROVINCIAL OMBUDSMAN SINDH RS. 1,163,510/- TOWARD SERVICE DUES RECEIVED BY MR. GHULAM NABI MALLAH, MALARIA SUPERVISOR, HEALTH DEPARTMENT.Mr. Ghulam Nabi Mallah, retired Malaria Supervisor approached this Secretariat in February 2022 stating that he retired from service on 22.07.2021 but still waiting for payment of service dues viz G.P. Fund, Gratuity & Leave Encashment etc. from District Accounts Officer Naushahro Feroze. On constant persuasion by this Secretariat, he received his dues amounting to Rs. 1,163,510/-. |

Honourable Ombudsman Sindh Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan presented Annual Report 2022 to the Chief Commissioner. |

INDONESIA THE GOVERNMENT MUST REACTIVATE MINING OPERATIONS IN THE MANDIODO BLOCK, SOUTHEAST SULAWESI.Member of Commission VII DPR RI, Mulyanto, asked the Government to reactivate nickel mining activities in the Mandiodo Block Mining Business Area (WUP), North Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, which was previously closed due to a corruption case. The process of investigating this case must be accelerated, so that there is legal certainty for the perpetrators of corruption.
